Well, the temporary job ended today, which wasn't much of a surprise. To be honest, I think the supervisors tried to spin it out as long as they could; they had said it might last until Friday and apologized that, well, we got done a lot sooner than they planned. (We two temps even helped out on a project that had nothing to do with what we were hired for...as I said at the time, of course I'd help. It was what I was there for.) [EDIT: They told us that the temps who had been brought in to do the project the year before had taken two weeks to get the work done that we did in, really, less than a week of real work time. All I can say is "flippin' slackers!" ;-) ] Unfortunately, we pretty much ran out of stuff to do midway through the day, so I only got 5 hours and 15 mins of pay today. Ah well. It was nice while it lasted. I gave my supervisor a resumé...the work environment was really nice and relaxed. I wouldn't mind working there if something were to come up. So we'll see.
So Eliza Carthy's new album officially comes out in the UK next week. I've been reading reviews from people who picked it up at shows and the reaction seems to be not just positive, but really enthusiastic. (And not just over the incredibly sexy cover either!) Of course, who knows when we'll see it get here...if experience is any indication, maybe in about 2 or 3 months. Although I could get lucky and Silver Platters might get it in early...
Speaking of music, an aside to Hippy and UC5--I was listening to Cordelia's Dad's Spine album at work the other day and I kept flashing back to your wedding and the incredible fun of Schmalturm leading us all in a good old fashioned banjo stomp all over the church. Good times, good times. :-)
Amythyst landed safely in New Jersey this afternoon--she called me right before I left work. She was very tired, but very excited about the weekend. Me? I just miss her. But other than that, I'm doing pretty well. And am looking forward to a day "off" tomorrow! Hmm...methinks I shall go out and have a bit of fun. :-)
