So. For the past two months or so, every time Amythyst and I want to just spend a day together doing stuff, something comes up on our social calendar. (Layla's party and my aunt coming into town being the most recent.) We're normally socially busy in a long preplanned way at least one day of the weekend, but something always seems to come up for the other. At that rate, I was afraid we wouldn't have an alone day until the day after the wedding! (And, let's face it, that won't be one either.)

So. This week our Saturday game was cancelled. Amythyst has a few errands--pretty much all wedding related--she needs to run, but nothing long and nothing I can't be along for the ride with. (Unlike tomorrow, where she has a thing that would be long and boring and I would have to wait in a waiting room for a long time.) We've decided to finally make this an alone day for us. Unfortunately, that means missing Sarrabellum's party, which is a serious bummer, but I should see her (SB, that is) tomorrow (assuming I make it to Spoo's party!). And I should get my tires checked before driving to Seattle anyway. (Note to all: they're probably fine. I just get a little paranoid about slow leaks after having to replace one of the Volvo's 20 year old wheels because it was causing one a few years ago.)

So anyway, yeah. Not entirely sure what we're gonna do, beyond a couple of errands for her and maybe one or two for me. We may just go somewhere and hang out together (what a concept!) for awhile. Together and out of the house for a day. Wow.
So, it's almost September and I find myself (when I have time, what with wedding preparations) missing school. As a lot of you know, I do have plans to pursue a graduate degree, but there was no way I could have started it this Autumn. (Deadline for applications was either a week before or a few days after my thesis was due; I was a little busy.) So I'm stuck out of school until a year from September. But...it's time to start thinking of preparations.

To that end, I'm soliciting advice about GRE books. I've gone looking at them and they are bewildering in their numbers. I seem to recall Schmallturm recommending the Princeton book, but I could be wrong about that. I'm interested in hearing what those of you who've taken the GRE think (and yes, I know the test has changed over just the past few years, but still) and what you'd recommend. (Especially you, Turtleduck, since you're pretty much doing precisely what I plan on applying for, just on a different coast.) Thanks in advance, folks. :-)

As for my day with Amythyst, it was nice. Much got done. And my mastercard is very, very buff after it's big workout. sigh Still, we had a good time just being with each other. :-)
