Dec. 21st, 2005

So this morning, the phone rang. Said phone was, of course, not in the bedroom, so I had to fall out of bed and run for a phone before the machine picked up. It was the "Organization Lady." Apparently, our address and phone number had disappeared from her planner and she'd been having problems with her phone yesterday, so my message didn't get to her until this morning. (And, by the by, the first person who makes a comment about how "ironic" all of this is from the "Organization Lady" or something similar gets their comment deleted...the joke has been made too many times since yesterday for it to be funny to me anymore...) So, do I believe her? Yeah, why not...it's not unusual for someone who can organize and clean others' stuff to be a bit disorganize herself. At any rate, we've rescheduled for next Wednesday between 4:30 and 5. So we shall see what we shall see.

Also this morning, I finally got an e-mail from the Corestaff recruiter. She'd been out the past two days with a sick child, so she'll be calling me today at 3. Yay. I love this kind of thing (no stress at all, no sir), so doing one with a few hour's notice....yeah, not thrilled, but what am I gonna do? I'll update about how that goes later.

Anyway, what with one thing and another, I'm kind of off-balance today. Have to head over to BCC to drop off some forms (for recommendations) at some point today, no idea when. Hopefully, I'll get it together enough to get out there before the "interview." If not, then I have to get out of here right away afterwards....
So. First thing first, I did make it to BCC this afternoon to drop off the recommendation forms. Didn't see my ex-boss (he was in a meeting with his boss, who will also hopefully be writing me a recommendation), but I hung out with an ex-coworker for a bit, which was fun. I would be happy to go back and work there if I get work study next year.

I got back a little after two and the person from Corestaff was supposed to call me at 3. I got myself all set up (phone, pad of paper, pen, cup of water) and waited. She called a few minutes after three. Things went...well. This was sort of an initial screening and I apparently passed. Now I have to fill out their application and take some tests and such online, then go in for an interview a week from tomorrow. The company mainly fills admin/clerical contract positions at a "large software company on the Eastside," which the recruiter admitted was, yes, Microsoft. Generally, the contracts run for 3, 6 or 12 months. (If I can get an 8-9 month one, that'd be perfect, but we'll see.) It's very possible I could get a current admin position open in Windows Legal, given my experience with the MS legal dept. (i.e., I sort of worked for a very removed department under Legal.) Or not, but they could find me something. The best news is the salaries would be about what I'm looking for and Corestaff's benefits are fantastic. So yeah, we'll see.

And right now, Amythyst is lying down. Hopefully, we'll do something about dinner soon.

Oh! And my car started the beepbeepbeep/dome light thing again coming home from BCC. shrug I'll see about taking care of it tomorrow or Friday.

So yeah, that's me. You?
