So we've decided to solve our printer problem by simply hooking it up (for now) to Amythyst's computer. If I need a file printed, I can just e-mail it to myself and get it on her comp. No problem, right?
Well, first the CD with the drivers goes missing for a few days. Last night, Amythyst finally sat down and found it.
Tonight, I sat down and decided to get the thing installed. Step one of the Mac instructions (which, amusingly, is the final step of the Windows instructions) is to connect the printer, using the USB port. So, I open the package with the USB cord we'd bought. And then I discover that one end of the cord does not fit. The other side does, of course, but the two connectors, though they appeared the same in the package, were not the same.
So, one of us has to return the USB cable and try to find something that works. And me? I'm just frustrated and wishing I could #$@% print something!
