Doctor Who Series Three in the USA
Apr. 24th, 2007 10:33 amThis just in, Scifi has announced they will be showing series 29/3 of Doctor Who starting in July. They're going to start with last year's Christmas special ("The Runaway Bride," which I loved) and will continue with episode one of the new series ("Smith & Jones," which I also loved) the following week. Haven't seen dates and times yet.
What's most interesting about this news is how it screws Canadian fans, yet again. Which is all the more galling considering the CBC has helped finance the previous two seasons of the show. (Can't recall if they're financially involved this year.) But it means that we US fans can watch the end of the series (if they're, y'know, getting the episodes somehow) and then start all over again on Scifi almost immediately thereafter!
The article linked to above also reiterates the "Torchwood"/BBCAmerica news I'd heard previously, for thems that are interested and get BBCAmerica. I don't get the channel, but I'd be interested in hearing how much gets cut out of episodes, if anything....

Coolest thing ever.
Apr. 24th, 2007 11:31 amAn extraordinarily talented person has made a miniature Bag End of exquisite detail. It's amazing...and it has the exact right "homey" feel I'd always felt when reading or thinking about Bag End. Influenced by, but certainly not based on the version in the FotR films, it has the look and feel one imagines when one thinks of a hobbit, a wizard and some dwarves having tea and supper and after, late into the evening.....
