As Amythyst can attest, I have, occasionally over the past couple days, been spontaneously saying (in a very silly, childlike voice), "Cap'njack'sback!" And back he was on the show that started John Barrowman's career in the role. Also along for the ride was Sir Derek Jacobi, wonderful as always.

Non-spoiler version: I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all I can say before heading into spoiler space )

Next week: The election for Prime Minister is over. Now we find out what the new PM will do...it's "The Sound of Drums" by Russell T. Davies, and I can't wait!

Ok, to get it out of the way, it didn't suck. Was it great? No, I can't say it was. Was it bad? Nope. Did it do justice to the source material? Well, no. Not in any way, shape or form. FF #s 48-50 are wonderful, wonderful stories, as is the later Doom/Silver Surfer story that elements were taken from. Anyone who enjoys superheroes or fantasy or just plain imaginative fun owes it to themselves to give Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four (especially from around issues 35 or so on) a try. Some of it's a bit crude (Kirby's art is dynamic as hell, though not really pretty; Stan's scripting is fun, but often a bit bombastic), some of it's pretty dated (Sue wasn't as, well, liberated as she'd become), but it's powerfully fun stuff.

Ahem. Back to the movie. Amythyst says I should cut this, although I don't think there are any spoilers, but I'll cut it anyway )
