Guess what's finally coming?

Yup, D&D 4.0 will be coming next year (press release in link), starting with a Player's Handbook in May 2008. According to the news on this thread, it'll be more streamlined with "faster gameplay" and "less prep time." While this sounds like good news, folks are interpreting the information leaking out to indicate a "more hacking, less talking" version of D&D. (Note, this is just what people are saying; there's no direct indication of this.)

I'm amused by the online aspects they're trying to push; guess the "wouldn't you rather pretend you're an elf while you hang out with friends?" ad campaign didn't work so well...

But yeah. Even though I knew it was coming at some point, I'm still a bit miffed that I've sunk all that money into the game and now they expect me to do it all over again....still.....the player in me will feel the need to at least check it out when it's released....although I hope my games stick with 3.5.....still.... and that's how they get ya!
Hey, for the four of you who care, I just posted some stuff at the Legionnaires community about rumors circulating regarding the mysterious new writer (coming next year) of the Legion. I thought [livejournal.com profile] mscongeniality might be particularly interested, since she shares my love of the Silver Age Legion, so I thought I'd post a link here to it. :-)

Thoughts? Comments? Anyone care for a mint?
Wow, Bowie's Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) is a damn fine album, isn't it?

I'm just sayin'.
Doctor Who--the first 26 years (plus one movie)

Just....awesome.

thanks to laura for the head's up! :-)
