Steven Moffat clearly loves Doctor Who. And, in a single hour, he's made me love it all over again, all brand new and old wrapped up in a neat little package.

I suppose before I go on, I should apologize for never trying to reconstruct my lost "End of Time part two" review. It was just so disheartening, losing it after a couple hours of work, that I could never bring myself to rewrite it. (Not to mention my impressions getting mixed up with a whole lot of other people's as I read their reviews.)

But, here we are. New era, new producer, new Doctor. So how did Matt Smith do? Well, as almost always with regeneration episodes, it's a little early to say how he'll do in the long run. But I quite liked him so far! There's a fair dash of Tennant in this episode, some of which I would bet will disappear as we go, but there's also a lot of Davison and Troughton...and even some of the Bakers, both of them. Basically, I think he'll shape up quite nicely; it helps that Moffat's script was fast, funny and exciting. But I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

And Karen Gillan's Amy has a huge amount of potential, also helped by a very meaty part in Moffat's script. Full stop, I think I'm gonna love Amy. She combines a lot of the best aspects of the companions in the revived series while managing to be an entirely new character. I'm really happy, thus far, with this Doctor/Companion team.

Ok, this was a pretty straightforward story, so not many spoilers to discuss, but still...have some spoiler space )

Next Week: UK...in...SPAAAAAAACE! It's "The Beast Below" by Steven Moffat. Can't wait!
