Ok, I'm gonna plug it again!
Aug. 3rd, 2012 11:32 amWe're in the final 5+ days of the fundraising drive for this, and I wouldn't want people to miss out, so I'm pluggin' it again. Quoting myself thusly:
My old friend Meg Baker has become rather well-known in the independent game publishing world. She currently has an Indiegogo campaign up to publish the second edition of her "it-reads-amazing-but-I-haven't-actually-played-it" game, 1001 Nights. Seriously, even if you're not a role player, you should check this out. It's basically a "lets get together and tell stories in a fun setting" game--no graphs or charts and precious few dice needed! She's already got enough pledged to get it printed (and I helped! heh), but there's still a few weeks to get in on the action if you want cool stuff in addition to the game itself.
And appending: This is not a "serious" role playing game, with charts and tables and you get to be an elf or fight a dragon or whatever. What this game is is what I'd call a "dinner party game." You and your friends get together for dinner, have fun with the setting and taking a few minutes to think about what kind of character you'd like to be (no dice rolling required!) and then you tell and act out stories with each other. If that sounds fun to you (and why wouldn't it?), think about spending $10 on a pdf or $28-32 (depending on what country you're in) on a book and pdf.
Just to add--I get nothing from this other than hopefully turning my friends on to something they'd enjoy. :-)
