Now that is more like it.
Seriously, with the exception of one naff joke, this was the best episode since the Christmas special. This was an episode that was different (like I discussed last week), but still felt right, unlike a lot of the rest of 33B (including Gatiss' previous 33B script, "Cold War"). It worked, in a way the other attempts to do "different" haven't worked thus far. The story also saw the return of some fun characters (one wonders how much of a "back door pilot" this episode could be), which sure didn't hurt, as well as some fine, fine acting from Dame Diana Rigg (yes, that Diana Rigg) and her real-life daughter Rachel Stirling.
Basically, I kind of loved it. One of Mark Gatiss' best Who scripts to date. Fun and inventive and slightly mad...with, as I said, one completely pants joke. What was that joke, you ask? Well, for that, I'm gonna need a little ( spoiler space )
NEXT WEEK: The Doctor and Clara are not alone as they journey to a new world...only to find some of the Doctor's oldest and deadliest enemies! It's "Nightmare in Silver" by Neil Gaiman! Can't wait!
