Simply fantastic. It's looking like an "every other story impresses me" kind of season, but I felt that this was a very strong ending to a very strong story. That being said, I think this was also Lis Sladen's least convincing acting of the season, though that's praising with faint damnation, I think, because she was still very good. In fact, everyone was.

I do have a few things to mention that falls into the old spoiler space territory....

Midway through this episode, I realized how this story is gonna reverberate around the whole Doctor Who fandom thingy much more than a casual viewer might have thought...mainly because it appears to settle the UNIT dating controversy! (And I am very impressed that Wikipedia already notes the development!) If Sarah was 13 in 1964, and she was about, oh, let's say 22-23 when she met the Doctor in "The Time Warrior," then her UNIT stories had to have taken place starting in 1973, the year they were televised! Of course, this is all still contradicted by various other dates given in the series (in "Pyramids of Mars," Sarah says she comes from 1982, for example), but it does give us the current production team's official stand on the whole thing. Neat, huh?

Ahem. As for the episode itself, it was a wonderful idea and very good execution. I love the Trickster as a villain, both his motivation and his visual. I very much hope he returns! And Andrea Yates (any relation, I wonder? Probably not) was marvelous. Just the right blend of determination, selfishness, real emotion...a very nuanced character for the series, actually. Alan really shone in this second part as well, showing his mettle...which will surely be tested by his discoveries in the end. All in all, I thought it was quite good indeed. (And they even threw in a casual reference to the "Attack of the Graske" game!) What did you guys think?

Next week--We see the fallout by the stunning revelation from this week! What will happen? And what happens when reality seems to once again be in question, when Luke's parents (??) come looking for him? Find out in part one of the last story in the first SJA season, "The Lost Boy, part one," written by Phil "Eye of the Gorgon" Ford! I can't wait!
